Restaurant has an array of dishes to satisfy all taste buds..

RIVERSIDE Restaurant at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) Kuala Lumpur returns with a delectable buffet spread this Ramadan that features 250 types of dishes, including 20 stalls revolving around the concept of warung (small family-run shops).

This year’s theme is “Cahaya Ramadan” and will see an array of Malay-oriented cuisine along with Chinese, Indian and Western dishes. The spread will be prepared by PWTC’s executive chef Suzaini Mohamed Salih and his team.

“We are expecting more visitors this year as our price is very competitive and we are
offering tasty, traditional fare suitable for everyone,” said Suzaini, who has more than 30 years’ experience.

There will be six rotating menus, with a balance of non-spicy and spicy mains, soups and desserts.

Suzaini recommends the Nasi Briyani Power and roast lamb as items not to be missed.

“We will have five lambs everyday, cooked with special herbs and spices, and served with mushroom, black pepper or mint sauce,” Suzaini said, adding that the carving station was a hit among guests.

Other notable mains include the Sotong Goreng Kunyit, Labu Masak Lemak, Ekor Kambing, Daging Masak Hitam Utara, Pucuk Manis dengan Keledek Masak Lemak and many more.

The sotong was fresh and cooked to perfection, while the ekor kambing had a tender, melt-in-the-mouth texture and a savoury gravy that went very well with rice.

There will also be a selection of traditional village-themed foods such as kerabu and ulam (salads), pickled fruits, 18 types of sambal, seasoning and keropok.

At the warung stalls, guests can savour simple home-cooked tea-time treats such as keropok lekor, cucur udang, goreng pisang and spring rolls. For more variety, try the satay stall, pasta counter, chicken rice stall and roti canai counter.

End the meal on a sweet note with the colourful Agar-agar Batik, which is pleasing both to the eyes and the palate. The Chocolate Tart with Vanilla Sauce also scored brownie points for its rich flavour and crumbly crust. For those who prefer a do-it-yourself approach, customise your desserts at the ice kacang counter.

The Legar Putra hall area will be used to accommodate guests dining at the buffet.
It can seat up to 600 guests, with an additional 200 places available at the Riverside Restaurant and Cafe.

While dining, enjoy performances by Kumpulan Asli Sri Mawar and Isma of Akademi Fantasia as they serenade the crowd with ghazal tunes. Guests will also get to participate in a slogan competition, with an Umrah package for two as the grand prize.

The Cahaya Ramadan buffet is on until Aug 5 from 7pm to 10pm daily. It is priced at RM50++ for adults and RM15++ for children aged 7 to 12 years old. Senior citizens above 60 will get to dine for free if accompanied by one paying adult.

For corporate functions, there is a special offer of RM75++ per person. PWTC will provide a private dining area, praying room, audio system, backdrop and souvenirs for sahur.
