Recipe Ingredient
- 315g long grain rice, washed
- 1 tbsp margarine
- 2 tbsp oil
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3 shallots, coarsely chopped
- 1 lemon grass, bruised
- 2 ½ cups water
- 3/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 ½ tsp ground cumin
- 5 cloves
- 3 cardamoms
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
- 1 tsp salt or to taste
Instructions
- Heat margarine and oil in a saucepan, add in shallots, garlic, cloves, cardamoms, lemon grass and curry leaves. Fry until fragrant. Add turmeric powder and ground cumin to the mixture.
- Pour in water and bring to boil. Stir in rice and salt. Cook over high heat for 4-5 minutes then lower the heat and cook covered slightly until rice is done and fluffy. Fluff the rice after it is cooked.
