Recipe Ingredient
- 150g fragrant long grain rice, washed and drained
- 50g dhall, soaked for several hours
- 450ml water
- 1 tbsp margarine
- 1 tbsp oil
- (A):
- 2cm cinnamon stick
- 3 cardamoms, lightly crushedv
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 3 cloves
- 2 bay leaves
- 2cm piece ginger, lightly bruised
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 onion, finely sliced
- Seasoning:
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp chicken stock granules
Instructions
- Heat margarine and oil in a wok and fry ingredients (A) till fragrant. Add onions and sweat till they turn soft. Add ginger and turmeric powder and stir fry.
- Mix in rice and dhall and fry further. Add seasoning and water, mix thoroughly. Transfer ingredients to an electric rice cooker and cook until done.
- Serve with garnishing.
