Recipe Ingredient
- 500g roasted pork trotters, chopped into chunky pieces
- 400g salted vegetable (kiam chye), cut into bite-sized pieces and soaked for 1/2 an hour
- 2 sour plums
- 2 onions, quartered
- 2 tomatoes, kept whole
- 6 dried chillies, washed and kept whole
- 4 slices ginger
- 1 tsp peppercorns, cracked
- 2-3 small limes (limau kasturi), kept whole
- 2 litres water
- Seasoning:
- Sugar and salt to taste
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil and add in pork trotters, ginger and peppercorns. Simmer covered for 30 minutes. Add salted vegetable, tomatoes, onions, dried chillies, small limes and sour plums. Bring to a boil again and cook uncovered for 20 minutes. Add seasoning to taste then dish out. Serve soup hot.
