Recipe Ingredient
- 1kg beef, cut into small cubes
- 250ml cooking oil
- Wet rempah blend
- 5 medium red onions
- 5 pips garlic
- 5in old ginger
- 5 candlenuts
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 3in galangal
- 4 stalks lemongrass
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 1 cup of water
- 1 litre coconut milk
- 1 cup grated coconut, cooked until brown
- 3 tbsp tamarind paste, mix with 1/2 cup of water
- 110g brown sugar
- 10g chilli powder
- 250ml plain water
- 1/2 cup of chilli paste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Boil beef for about 30 minutes until tender.
- First heat up the oil in the sauce pan and fry the wet rempah ingredients until fragrant for 8 minutes.
- Add the chilli paste and chilli powder. Stir until oil appears.
- Add plain water and let it boil.
- Put in the boiled beef cubes.
- Then, add coconut milk and tamarind juice.
- Reduce the heat and stir well for 3 minutes.
- Then add salt, brown sugar and the grated coconut.
- Mix and cook until they blend nicely and beef is tender.
