Recipe Description
The green tea onde-onde is a green coloured ball made with a combination of glutinous rice flour and tapioca flour.
Coated with fresh grated coconut, it tastes exactly like little sweet bombs.
Recipe Ingredient
- Coconut coating:
- 200g freshly grated coconut (white flesh only)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Filling:
- 40g toasted black sesame seed powder
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1-2 tbsp canola oil
- Dough:
- 200g glutinous rice flour
- 50g tapioca flour
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 10g green tea powder
- 200ml water, mixed with a Few drops green colouring
Instructions
- Mix the grated coconut with salt and steam over rapidly boiling water for 6-7 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix well.
- Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl except the water.
- Pour the water in gradually as you work the flour mixture into a fairly stiff dough. Knead until smooth.
- Form dough into small balls. Pushing with a finger, make a well in the centre of each ball of dough and place a little filling in it.
- Wrap the dough around the filling to seal it completely. Roll back into a ball.
- Bring a pot of water to boil. Drop the balls into the boiling water without over-crowding.
- When they float, remove with slotted spoon and roll them in the grated coconut.
