Recipe Ingredient
- 830g dhal flour
- 500ml water
- 830g sugar
- 830ml oil
Instructions
- Mix the flour with 400ml water, then sieve the mixture through a boondi sieve (perforated metal ladle used to make savoury Indian treats) to remove lumps.
- In a pot, boil the sugar with the remaining 100ml water till the sugar dissolves to form a thick syrup, then add to 830g dhal flour mixture and mix well.
- In a separate pan, heat up the oil, then pour into mixture and combine well. Using your hands, shape the mixture into lime-sized balls.
the instructions don’t seem to be correct at all. please re look into it.

can the oil be substitute with something else? butter or ghee perhaps.. if the oil can be substitute, what are the measurement?

U didn’t mention how much dhal flour only 400 ml water
Hi Malini, the dhal flour is listed in the ingredients as 830g. The water used in Step 1 is only 400ml as the remaining 100ml is used in Step 2 to dilute the sugar. Thanks for the spot, we have made the recipe instructions clearer by mentioning dhal flour in the steps. Happy cooking!
