Recipe Description
Buttermilk is a Nourishing drink which cools the body. Ideal for summer but can be consumed throughout the year. It is tradition in the South of India and also in Gujarat. It is simple and easy to make as most households have curd/yogurt in the house. In fact it is a tradition in India to set curds at home every day.
Recipe Ingredient
- 2 cups of curd
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 sprig mint leaves
- 1 sprig coriander leaves
- A few curry leaves
- Half inch ginger
- 1 green chilly (optional)
- Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Freedom oil
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2-3 curry leaves
Instructions
- Beat the curds after adding water for a thin consistency
- Add the ground masala
- Add cumin powder and salt and mix very well
- Strain through a thick sieve
- Heat oil in a ladle
- Add mustard seed
- Add curry leaves when mustard seeds splutter
- Add to the buttermilk
- Serve the buttermilk cold. Add seasoning just before serving this cooling and antioxidant filled drink.
