Recipe Ingredient

  • 170 g margarine
  • 113 g caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 340 g flour (sifted)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • enough slivered almond
  • Glazing:
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 drop yellow food colouring

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and sugar.
  2. Add egg yolk and vanilla essence. Continue beating. Add in baking powder.
  3. Add enough flour till a soft dough is formed.
  4. Roll the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut dough into U (horse shoe) shape dipped in flour (to help prevent dough from sticking to the cutter.)
  5. Arrange the cut out dough 1/2 inch apart on the tray.
  6. Gently press the slivered almonds on the cut out dough.
  7. Beat one egg yolk and yellow food colouring. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of each cookie with the egg yolk.
  8. Bake in a preheated fan oven for 20 minutes or till golden brown.
  9. Leave to cool and keep in an airtight container.
