Recipe Ingredient
- 170 g margarine
- 113 g caster sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 340 g flour (sifted)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- enough slivered almond
- Glazing:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 drop yellow food colouring
Instructions
- Cream margarine and sugar.
- Add egg yolk and vanilla essence. Continue beating. Add in baking powder.
- Add enough flour till a soft dough is formed.
- Roll the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut dough into U (horse shoe) shape dipped in flour (to help prevent dough from sticking to the cutter.)
- Arrange the cut out dough 1/2 inch apart on the tray.
- Gently press the slivered almonds on the cut out dough.
- Beat one egg yolk and yellow food colouring. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of each cookie with the egg yolk.
- Bake in a preheated fan oven for 20 minutes or till golden brown.
- Leave to cool and keep in an airtight container.
