- 2 cups long grain rice
- 1 onion, cut into half and sliced thinly
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- 2cm ginger, sliced thinly
- 6 tbsp butter
- 5cm cinnamon stick
- 3 cloves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2-3 screwpine leaves, knotted
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Wash the rice and drain well. Melt butter in a wok and fry onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon stick and cloves until fragrant.
- Add rice and turmeric powder and fry until well combined.
- Transfer rice to an electric rice cooker.
- Add screwpine leaves, salt and water.
- Cook until rice is fluffy. Stand for 10 minutes before dishing out to serve.
