- 150g plain flour
- 55g ground almonds
- 50g sultanas
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 30g soft brown sugar
- 75g butter
- Combined
- 2g instant coffee
- 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
- 100ml milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 220°C. Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl and stir in salt. Rub in butter lightly until the mixture is crumbly.
- Add in ground almonds, sugar and sultanas to mix. Gradually pour in coffee, cocoa and milk mixture with a wooden spoon to mix until a soft dough is formed.
- Lightly flour tabletop and place the dough on it. Knead into a ball then roll out to a thickness of 2cm.
- Cut into 4cm squares. Arrange the cut-out dough on lightly greased baking trays and bake for 15-18 minutes or until well risen and golden.
- Serve scones warm or immediately after baking.
