Recipe Ingredient
- 4½ cups plain flour, sifted
- 1½ cups water
- 2¼ tbsp sugar
- 3/4 tbsp salt
- 1/4 tin evaporated milk
- 1 large egg
- 2¼ tbsp baking powder
- Pinch of bicarbonate of soda
- 1/2 cup oil
Instructions
- Combine milk, sugar, egg, salt, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and water in a large mixing bowl. Mix well to blend then fold in flour.
- Combine the mixture well until a dough is formed.
- Stir in oil and knead until dough is soft and pliable. Divide dough into equal portions of approximately 100g each, then flatten the balls of dough with a rolling pin into pieces that are 1cm thick.
- Deep-fry the pieces in fairly hot oil until puffed-up and golden-brown.
