Recipe Description
Among all the food I’ve tried with bubs, must say sweet potato is one of her favourites! Well, mommy loves these root-tubers too – naturally sweet and easy to munch on. When in season, go for Japanese sweet potatoes (as I’ve used in this recipe) and there are also local versions such as the purple or orange sweet potato.
There’s a lot of goodness in sweet potatoes as they are known to be high in potassium, which helps in digestion and promotes good heart rhythm and possesses Vitamin A, which is good for vision and boosts the immune system.
When kept properly, purees can be kept up to 2 months in the freezer but I wouldn’t suggest that. Make small portions of each foods so that you could experiment with new ingredients as your baby starts to explore food.
As a working mom, I find making this over the weekend and preparing 5-6 days’ worth, easy to manage. One to 2 cubes is just about 1-2 tablespoon, which is the amount that babies are recommended to take at this age.
Try it, my little bubs loved it. Do note not to overdo feeding, even if bubs is enjoying it as their little tummies are just getting used to digesting food.
Some Notes: This recipe is suitable for babies who have been eating well and are free from known allergies.
Despite starting solids, formula should still be the main meal for bubs at this age.
When trying new ingredients, do so at 3-4 days apart so you can detect allergies.
Please consult the doctor before introducing any new foods.
