Recipe Ingredient

  • 210g black glutinous rice flour, sifted
  • 80g glutinous rice flour, sifted
  • 20g green pea flour (lok tau fun)
  • 40g castor sugar
  • 200-250ml water
  • 3 pandan leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 piece gula Melaka, coarsely chopped
  • Combined
  • 1/2 grated coconut (use white flesh of coconut only)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Boil water, pandan leaves and sugar for 3-5 minutes or until sugar dissolves.
  2. Discard pandan leaves.
  3. Put sifted flours and green pea flour in a mixing bowl. Pour in hot syrup to mix. Add in oil and work into a soft dough.
  4. Form small marble-sized balls and wrap each piece around 1-2 pieces of chopped gula Melaka.
  5. Drop the balls of dough into a pot of boiling water. Cook until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted or perforated spoon. Drop onde-onde into the grated coconut. Toss well to mix.
