Recipe Ingredient

  • Sift:
  • 150g plain flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp castor sugar
  • Combine:
  • 200ml UHT milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Put sifted ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir in sugar. Add milk, egg and butter mixture. Mix well till batter is smooth. Set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Strain batter to remove any lumps. Take half a ladle of batter and spread it on a hot greased griddle or non-stick frying pan.
  3. When crumpets turn golden brown and bubbles are seen on the surface, flip over to brown the other side. Serve crumpets hot with jam or honey.
