GIVE mum a break from kitchen duties this Mother?s Day and treat her to a relaxing and fun day at Armada Petaling Jaya.
Last year, it was the traditional Peranakan cuisine. This time, executive chef Chew Teik Chye has come up with a buffet high?tea at the Utara Coffee House featuring Mediterranean dishes with fish and prawns, complemented with a variety of salads.
Some of the must-have items on the buffet line are the Smoked Mediterranean Fish made from mackerel, and the Cream of Mediterranean Soup cooked with lots of mix vegetables, which is light yet flavourful. To enjoy the soup better, dip the hot buns into the soup and sink your teeth in it.

Mediterranean cuisine is never complete without vegetables. The colourful Mediterranean Algerian salad is a toss of chick peas, capers, corn, parsley and onion among others, in tangy honey mustard. Also a must try is bourek, which is simply minced meat rolled up in cabbage.
For a dose of carbohydrate, there are the prawn croquettes, which is a fried dumpling of mashed potatoes with a prawn as its filling. The mash potatoes are soft and as you bite into it, you feel the crunch when you reach the succulent prawn.
On top of the Mediterranean delights, there are also local favourites like gado-gado, Nyanya Ayam Rendang, Nyonya Laksa and an assortment of traditional Malay sweet delicacies.
As for desserts, there?s Carrot Mascarpone Cake and a definite favourite for pineapple lovers ? the Pineapple Mousse.
The Mediterranean spread is only available on May 12 from noon to four, priced at RM70++ for adults and RM35 for children and domestic helpers.
Armada is also throwing in a fun itinerary for the day. There will be games and activities for the mothers to participate to win prizes. Mothers dressed in pink stand to win prizes too.
