EXECUTIVE chef Chew Teik Chye will be introducing a new Yee Sang called the Japanese Maguro (Tuna) Yee Sang this Lunar New Year, which is expected to be a hit among diners at Hotel Armada.
Taking its inspiration from Japanese cuisine, the in-house creation offers an option to those who want a unique Yee Sang.
The Tuna can also be replaced with Cuka Hotate (Scallop), Jellyfish or Mini Octopus.
“The seafood ingredients are marinated overnight, then added to the yee sang that includes Japanese seaweed and bonito flakes for its ingredients. We also have a secret sauce for the dressing,” said Chew.
The hotel’s Utara Coffee House other Yee Sang offerings include Tutti Frutti (Vegetarian) Yee Sang, Grass Carp Yee Sang and Salmon Yee Sang.
For festive gatherings, Chew and his team have lined up two set menus — the Blissful Abundance package that is priced at RM788++ per set and Charming Achievement Package at RM988++ per set.
The Blissful Abundance package begins with the tossing to a prosperous year ahead with the Prosperity Yee Sang with Salmon, followed by Braised Sharks’ Fin Soup with Seafood.
The set menu includes choices of Braised Chicken with Eight Treasures or Roasted Chicken with Fruit Salad, Deep Fried Garoupa with Sweet Sour Sauce or Deep Fried Garoupa with Cheong Cheng Sauce, Fried Prawn with Oatmeal Flakes or Fried Prawn with Butter Flakes, and Stewed Beancurd with Mixed Vegetables and Fatt Choy or Stewed Loh Hon with Lotus Root.
For desserts, choose either Chilled Red Bean Cream with Sago or Deep Fried Ninko.
The Charming Achievement Package comes with Japanese Maguro (Tuna) Yee Sang and Braised Sharks’ Fin Soup with Eight Treasures.
The subsequent dishes are available as a choice of either Roasted Chicken with Sesame Seeds or Roasted Chicken with Plum Sauce, Steamed Australian Red Garoupa with Superior Soya Sauce or Steamed Pomfret with Superior Soya Sauce, Deep Fried Premium Tiger Prawn with Butter and Eggs or Baked Tiger Prawn with Marmite Sauce, and Braised Sea Cucumber with Black Mushroom and Broccoli or Braised Dried Oysters with Fatt Choy and Broccoli.
The Iced Lemon Sea Coconut or Steamed Ninko with Shredded Coconut are served for desserts.
Set menu patrons are also entitled for complimentary usage of the karaoke room at The Wharf, which is only applicable from Sundays to Thursdays.
Meanwhile, diners who prefer a bigger variety can opt for the Lunar New Year buffet.
There are dishes like Fried Black Pomfret with Cheong Cheng Sauce, Braised Duck with Mushrooms, Sauteed Top Shell with Chinese Leek, Stir Fried Clams with Red Peppers, Braised Sea Cucumber Teochew Style, Fried Kam Heong Green Mussels, Roasted Pi-Pa Duck and Bon Bon Chicken Salad.
The buffet is priced at RM65++ per adult and RM35++ per child and domestic helper.
Chew highlighted that the Bon Bon Chicken Salad and Braised Chicken with Eight Treasures are new dishes introduced into the buffet and set menu respectively.
“Children and adults alike would enjoy the Bon Bon Chicken Salad, which has steamed shredded chicken marinated with peanut butter, mayonnaise, sesame oil and crushed peanuts, and served in a corn chip cup.
“The Braised Chicken dish is stuffed with the following “treasures” — dried scallops, dried shrimps, jellyfish, dried oysters, top shell, fish lips, sea cucumber and sea asparagus,” he said.
Utara Coffee House’s Lunar New Year set menu and buffet are available from now till Feb 17.
The set menu is available for both lunch and dinner, while the buffet is only available for lunch and the eve of Lunar New Year.
The Yee Sang is available for dine-in and takeaways in three sizes — small, medium and big.
