INSPIRED by one of the latest blockbusters in the cinemas featuring an engaging pirate and his sea and land adventures, the chefs at San Francisco Steakhouse have come up with “The Tasty Caribbean Experience” promotion that will last until Aug 31.
One of the two chefs who created the promotion menu, chef de cuisine Juwahir Mustafa who is better known as Chef Ell, said that the Caribbean taste is all about spicy flavours.
“We came up with the idea as we were trying to develop new flavours and add variety to our menu. We wanted to stick to the original spicy flavours but thought it may not be suited to the local taste so we toned it down,” Ell said.
The menu has a few appetisers, main courses, side dishes, desserts and drinks to select from.
Ell said that the special Jerk sauce, a popular seasoning in the Caribbean that is mildly spicy, was used liberally.
“One of the dishes, the appetiser Jerk Wing, is actually six pieces of chicken wings, marinated and baked in the sauce,” he said.
There are five main courses to choose from namely the Caribbean chicken stew, Curried scented prawns and fish, Caribbean salmon fillet, Country style ribs and Fragrant sirloin.
“We have these items on our regular menu except this time it is cooked in a different style. If customers take a liking to it, we will consider putting it on our regular menu after the promotion,” Ell said.

To add to the Caribbean experience, diners can also order side dishes of either Kidney bean pilaf or Avocado salsa.
“We have also come up with a couple of new desserts to end the meal with. So far, the Coconut rum cake is doing very well. It goes very well with our promotion as it invokes images of beach,” he said.
The other dessert, the coffee brownies, was something out of the ordinary that the restaurant has tried.
Two cocktails, the Mango daiquiri and Caribbean iced tea, and mocktails, Virgin Mojita and Virgin Hurricane, are also included in this promotion.
There is also a three course meal perfect for two offered at RM89.90 while diners who spend RM100 and above in a single bill with any purchase from the promotional menu will receive a complimentary San Francisco Steakhouse voucher worth RM10.
