THE SHIP restaurant is inviting those who would like to celebrate their mothers and special mother figures in their life with its Mother’s Day 2013 promotion.
The four-course Mother’s Day 2013 set menu is available from today to Sunday.
It begins with a Smoked Salmon Cocktail appetiser, followed by a Seafood Chowder soup.
“The Seafood Chowder, which is The Ship’s version of Clam Chowder, is one of the best sellers from our a la carte menu. This dish features prawns, crab meat and squid,” said restaurant area manager Steven Yoon.
For the main course, diners have a choice of Charbroiled Australian Rib Eye Steak served with buttered broccoli, corn on the cob and potato wedges, or Grilled Salmon Steak with Green Peppercorn Cream Sauce and Tiger Prawns served with mini salad, corn on the cob and potato wedges.
Diners can complete their meal with a slice of The Ship’s Ice Cream Cake for dessert.
The Mother’s Day 2013 promotion is priced at RM75.90++ per set, and includes a complimentary gift.
“The Ship has a different promotion every month, to cater to different occasions like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and National Day,” said Yoon.
“We usually offer a choice of seafood or steak for the main course to cater to different preferences.”
Meanwhile, The Ship continues to serve its menu of continental cuisine, seafood, steak, poultry and even Chinese dishes to generations of diners.
The restaurant with the tagline The Best Steak in Town is known for its nautical theme, ranging from the life-sized ship hull on its exterior and maritime-inspired interior, to the service crew dressed in nautical uniforms.
“Our signature appetisers are the Escargots Bourguinonne (French snails baked in chablis garlic sauce) and Oysters Natural (air flown New Zealand oysters on half shell, chilled with crushed ice),” said Yoon.
“Besides the Seafood Chowder, our other signature soups are the Thai Seafood Tom Yam and Indonesian Oxtail brewed with aromatic herbs.”
For main courses, Yoon said the popular choices are the Roasted Rack of Lamb, Neptune Taurus Delight (a combination of tiger prawns and tenderloin fillet steak served on a sizzling hot plate) and Seafood Platter (a combination of grilled king prawns, fish fillet, squid, soft shell crab and scallops).
“The Hot Stone Plate section, called From the Stoneage, is also quite popular. It offers a different combination of chicken, steak, lamb or seafood, which are served alongside three sauces – black pepper, chilli, and an in-house speciality gravy,” said Yoon.
Yoon attributed The Ship/’s popularity and longevity to its emphasis on service and food quality.
“The Ship is a uniquely themed restaurant. People have come to associate The Ship with good food, so we ensure that the quality is maintained but taste enhanced to keep up with the times,” he said.
“We have monthly specials to offer something new to regulars. We are also open to bookings for functions, ranging from small groups of 20 to 30, to large groups of 100 to 200.”
The Mother’s Day 2013 set menu is available at all six The Ship restaurants nationwide.
Four are located in the Klang Valley – Bukit Bintang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Damansara Utama and Pertama Complex, while the other two are located in Penang – Batu Ferringhi and Sri Bahari.
As reservations are not accepted, diners will be seated on a first come, first served basis.
