POPULAR restaurant chain T.G.I. Friday’s (TGIF) claims it’s always Friday when you enter their restaurant.

It is not difficult to tell why – the wide selection of food will make one indulge in the hearty spread and forget about everything else.

The chain under franchise holder Chaswood Resources Sdn Bhd has recently revamped the menu — both the look and content — to inject an energetic and youthful feel that defines Friday’s.

A total of 12 new items were introduced, including vegetarian choices like Garlic Spaghetti Vegetali and Vegetable Fajita.

We sampled two of the three newcomers that made it to the list of the starters — Tuna with Avocado Crisps and Stuffed Mushrooms.

Tuna with Avocado Crisps featured tortilla chips topped with blackened tuna slices, guacamole, Sriracha sauce, Chinese parsley and jalapeno.

Stuffed Mushrooms, on the other hand, were baked mushroom caps stuffed with fresh mozzarella cheese and ground beef.

The new salad, Tuna Wasabi Salad, came with a refreshing cucumber wasabi dressing.

Eating greens on their own can be boring, but with lightly seared tuna slices and tortilla strips threw in, the dish was satisfying.

Friday’s knows its customers cannot get enough of its gourmet burgers, so it has thoughtfully introduced “Ultimate Burger” in its menu to allow customers to upsize burgers of their choice with an extra patty and four cajun battered onion rings.

The addition made our Tennessee Burger huge enough to be shared among our table of five.

Glazed with Tennessee sauce, the beef patty was flavourful and juicy, while the beef bacon strips gave the burger an extra kick.

As a pasta lover, I could not resist Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta, which featured chicken and prawns sauteed with green and red bell peppers, then tossed with fettuccine in cajun alfredo sauce.

There were no new items in the desserts section this time, but we gladly opted for an all-time favourite, Brownie Obsession.

It has a thick slice of warm brownie drizzled with chocolate fudge sauce and caramel sauce. A dollop of vanilla ice-cream sprinkled with chopped pecans made it even more enjoyable.

Friday’s restaurants are located at Menara Hap Seng, Pavilion KL, Wangsa Walk Mall, Hartamas Shopping Centre, The Gardens, Subang Parade, 1Utama, The Curve, Sunway Pyramid, IOI Mall, Alamanda Shopping Mall, Paradigm Mall and Setia City Mall.
