THE quest continues for a good helping of kwetiau kerang (fried koay teow with cockles).
This week, I would like to take you to USJ11 in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
During a follow-up visit to an outdoor makan place off Persiaran Tujuan, I noticed a mother and daughter team serving char koay teow kerang.
Upon closer inspection, the lady asked: “Encik nak basah? Atau kering?” (do you want it wet or dry?).
She, of course, was referring to how the noodle dish was prepared.
My pick was kwetiau kerang kering.
As I waited patiently for my plate of fried koay teow, I noticed that the lady’s stall was hidden from plain sight.
The makan place in question is Boomtown Cafe in Jalan USJ11/2J.
It caters mainly to the hip and happening crowd and is open only after 7pm.
Getting back on track, I gave the kwetiau kerang a try and at RM4.50 a pop, I must say that the taste is really good.
On a scale of 1-10, I would rate it at 6.5 on the Samo-scale.
The portion and ingredients used were generous.
I got two pieces of shrimp with the order. It would be better if the shells were peeled.
If the fried noodle dish is not enough, you can give the burger besar here a try.
I am not sure of its quality, but the number of people who ordered it kind of convinced me that it’s an item worth the try.
Apart from that, there’s a stall that serves kepak ayam panggang. It seems pretty decent.
The cafe (N 03 02.383, E 101 34.747) is located off Persiaran Tujuan in Subang Jaya.
On directions to get there, do a search on Google Map.
