THE holy month of Ramadan is back again.

It is not only a time of spiritual reflection, but also an occasion to get together with friends and loved ones.

Throughout this month, Empire Hotel Subang is offering a buffet spread of tempting Malaysian favourites themed Seenak Sajian Tradisi Desa for buka puasa at Kitchen Art Brasserie.

Those opting for a hawker experience can try a variety of Malaysian favourites at Empire’s live action stalls, which include roast lamb, ikan bakar, beef and chicken satay, murtabak, roti canai, Claypot Yee Mee, lok lok, ice kacang, and cendol, among others.

“This time we are offering special kampung favourites from the different states in the country.

“Among the specialities include Siput Sedut Masak Batang Keladi, Gulai Patin Tempoyak and Tomyam Udang Bersantan,” said Empire Hotel’s executive chef Fazli Baharudin, adding that a must-try was his signature dish Rendang Udang Galah.

The Kuala Lumpur-born Fazli said the signature dish is prepared using giant fresh water prawns, shallots, ginger, lemongrass, fresh turmeric, turmeric leaves, dried chilli and coconut milk.

Other mixed spices like cinnamon stick, cardamom, star anise, cloves and grated coconut are also used in the dish to give it that extra flavour.

With five menus rotated on a daily basis, Fazli said there would be a total of 120 dishes available at the buffet spread.

Other dishes served in the buffet line include acar buah, telur masin, ikan masin goreng, Kabuli Chana Chat and Kerabu Kepah Bercili, among others.

The must-try dishes include Udang Harimau Masak Daun Limau, Ayam Kaleo Rembau, Pucuk Paku Goreng Pedas, Ikan Asam Pedas Daun Kesum and Gulai Itik.

The restaurant offers a variety of different sambal.

The bubur and pengat section will have bubur lambuk, sira labu, bubur kacang hijau and bubur kacang merah.

Other Ramadan goodies served are kuih loyang, bahulu, kuih peneram, kuih makmur, buah Melaka, kuih lompang and kuih keria.

Diners can also try the air tebu, air longan, air sirap selasih, air bandung, air kacang soya jagung and air kurma.

The hotel has also arranged a ghazal performance throughout the fasting month.

The Seenak Sajian Tradisi Desa buffet dinner is available until Aug 7 (7pm to 10pm).

It is priced at RM98++ per person (adults) and RM78++ per person (for children six to 12 years and senior citizens above 55 years old).

The hotel is also offering a “buy two and get one free” offer from Aug 5 till 7.

Diners will receive a complimentary takeaway Rendang Chicken Floss Bun.

    how do I get the recipe for Kuih Keria, bubur kachang hijau please …. I could not find it in Kuali recipe search
