SEMARAK Cafe at Grand Bluewave Hotel Shah Alam is inviting those who want to celebrate the special woman in our lives — our mothers — with a lunch treat on Mother’s Day.
It promises to be an occasion filled with good food, fun activities, family-bonding opportunities and, most importantly, let the mothers take a break from the kitchen.
Bite-sized morsels: Assorted Steamed Dim Sum (made from prawn, seafood and chicken).Executive chef Azmi Md Sidek said the menu for the “Mum, Queen of my Heart” promotion features some 50 local and international dishes, with the latter offering a taste of Chinese, Middle-Eastern and Western cuisine.
For starters, there is an option of either a local salad — Umai, or Western salad — Mussel with Avocado Salad.
“The Umai is a Sarawakian fish-based salad made from a concoction of steamed red snapper, lemongrass, bird’s eye chilli, onion, ginger, lemon, lime, black pepper and coriander,” said Azmi.
“The Western salad features a combination of New Zealand half shell mussels and Australian avocado.”
Azmi personally recommended the Middle-Eastern dishes, namely the Kafta Batata and Marinated Whole Lamb with Ouzi Rice.
“The Kafta Batata is a meatball made from a mix of lamb, potato and spices, and served in a tomato-based sauce,” he said.
Other dishes include Chicken and Beef Satay with Peanut Gravy and Assorted Condiments, Assorted Steamed Dim Sum (made from prawn, seafood and chicken), and Hainanese Chicken Rice with Roasted Duck and Roasted Chicken.
For desserts, there is the hotel’s cake of the month — Strawberry Hazel Torte, as well as Cappuccino Oreo Truffle, and a selection of fresh fruits.
An event highlight at the lunch treat is the vintage car ride, where the first 20 mothers who make their bookings for the promotion will be whisked around Shah Alam city in style in vintage cars provided by the Malaysian-Singapore Vintage Cars Association.
Other activities include a “Stylo Mum” award for the best-dressed mother, song dedication for mothers, mystery gift for diners and lucky draws.
Grand Bluewave Hotel’s “Mum, Queen of my Heart” promotion is available on Mother’s Day, which is observed on May 8 this year.
The promotion is served during lunchtime, from noon to 4pm. It is priced at RM60++ per person. Senior citizens aged above 55, and children aged four to 11, are entitled to a 50% discount.
