PHILEO Damansara 1 in Section 16, Petaling Jaya, is a place I would gladly walk to when there’s a massive traffic jam in the evenings.
That’s because it’s approximately 300m from Menara Star where I work and the stroll is worth it because of a pizza parlour that serves everything pork.
I chill out at this place called Skippy’s Pizza with my buddies from the desk over a few beers and some pork pizza.
I recently found out the restaurant also serves burgers and pasta dishes.
To cut to the chase, there aren’t many makan places out there that serve really good pork burgers
A lot of the outlets are pure hype and a marketing gimmick ? I find it hard to comprehend people actually queue up to get a taste of burgers with charcoal buns.
I chanced upon the pork treat when I feted a buddy of mine who was rather depressed that he did not qualify for his company’s annual bonus payment.
The poor guy was short of a year in service to earn his dues.
So, I told him to lighten up and gave him a treat at Skippy’s.
We made our way to the makan place and ordered a double pork burger (RM17.90) and a pork burger (RM12.90).
The meals came with a complimentary drink (ice lemon tea or soy bean) and after a brief wait, the dishes arrived and we were happily chomping away.
What I liked about the meat patties was the fact they were not dry and tasteless.
The pork burgers at Skippy’s are quite good and on the Samo-scale, I would rate it at 8 out of 10.
The only letdown was the portion of French fries.
It was so scarce, I could actually count them.
Another big surprise at this makan place was the fact that the owner was my former colleague from the New Straits Times.
I met Fay, the lady boss who was busy ushering customers and clearing up tables.
We complimented her on the awesome pork burgers and vowed to return to her outlet.
