SIMPLE yet tasty best describes the Prosperity Reunion Chinese New Year buffet dinner at The Nomad Bistro at The Nomad SuCasa All-Suite Hotel’s.

The hotel is giving guests a variety of dishes to choose from the buffet this Chinese New Year, including a Prosperity Yee Sang with sliced Salmon, Crab Meat Soup, Lotus Root and Yam, Fried Chicken with Orange and Honey Mango, Four Seasons Vegetables, Pineapple Fried Rice, Grilled Scallops with Steamed Broccoli, Salty Beef, Steamed Seabass with Ginger Chilli and Corriander and mixed vegetables with edamame.

Sous chef Zulkefli Mohammad said the restaurant was known for its fried rice which impressed us at the recent media preview.

When it comes to fried rice, many places fall short on flavour but the Pineapple Fried Rice is certainly a winner in terms of taste and texture.

Chef Zulkefli explained that the core of the flavour lies in the paste, which is a special concoction which he created.

Grilled Scallops with Steamed Broccoli.

For dessert, there is Sweetened Red Bean Cream with Lotus Seed, Chilled Mango Puree with Pomelo Sago and Sea Coconut with Dried Longan and Herbs to satisfy one’s sweet tooth.

The Sweetened Red Bean Cream with Lotus Seed was extremely sweet and thicker than most red bean desserts elsewhere.

Patrons should consider giving the Chilled Mango Puree with Pomelo Sago a try as it can be an immensely refreshing drink to end a meal.

The hotel has also prepared a Romantic Dinner Valentine’s Day Set Menu to commemorate Feb 14, with starters including the hotel’s Citrus Infused Grilled Prawns with Lightly Oiled Avocado on a bed of Crisp Greens and garnished with Cherry Tomatoes and Steamed Asparagus.

Accompanying it is the Lobster Bisque with Spicy Cream.

For the main course, patrons can choose between a combo of Grilled Lemon Linefish, Seared Salmon, Cajun Prawns, Pan-fried Calamari and Marinated Mussels or Rosemary Lamb Cutlets in Red Grape Juice accompanied by Fondant Potatoes with Rocket Salad and a medley of vegetables.

For dessert, the Rich Red Berries and Walnut Tart served with Whipped Cream and Sticky Strawberry Coulis is available.

The succulent Roast Chicken is one of the dishes offered at the restaurant.

The dessert is best shared as it lives up to its name in being rich yet tasty. The walnut gives the dessert a nice nutty flavour, which goes well with the berries in the tart.

Priced at RM60+ per adult and RM38+ per child and per senior citizen, the Chinese New Year Prosperity Reunion Dinner is available on Jan 29 and 30, from 6.30pm to 10pm while the Romantic Dinner is priced at RM60 nett per adult, and starts from 6.30pm to 10.30pm on Feb 14.
