Hotel offers buffet spread with marketplace twist.
IF you do not have the time to visit Ramadan bazaars this year but still crave Malay dishes, then visit Putrajaya Marriott to break fast.
The hotel is treating its guests to a market-like concept, where diners go through the buffet spread picking their favourite dishes with baskets and boxes of fresh ingredients placed along the route.
Themed “Marriott Ramadan Marketplace”, the buffet line was not only bustling with chefs busy attending to guests but also with a colourful ambience.
Zulkifli said the hotel hoped to meet every guest’s tastes. Therefore, those who do not fancy spicy dishes can always opt for their Western or Chinese cuisine.
Through the years, the hotel has experimented with several themes but has always reserved a particular corner, with seven woks lined side by side serving various types of curries.
“We call it the Tujuh Kawah (top pic) and we try to cook different curries from seven different states each night,” said the 50-year-old Zulkifli from Kelantan.
Among the curries that can be found at Tujuh Kawah is the fish head curry, ayam kerutup, daging gulai kawah, ikan asam pedas, perut lembu masak cili padi, kambing kuzi and dalca tulang rawan.
At their rojak counter, be mesmerised by the selection featuring rojak pasembur, rojak sotong kangkung, rojak buah and rojak Singapore.
Those who fancy some Italian flavour can also choose their favourite pasta to be prepared with sauces and ingredients of their choice in a matter of minutes.
Meanwhile, the Goreng Goreng corner offers sotong ball skewer, chicken wings, ikan basung and cuttlefish skewer, while the ikan bakar section has grilled squid, shrimp, crabs, stingray fish and otak-otak.
Some Asian delights at the market-styled buffet line are California maki rolls, sushi, murtabak, roti canai, cutney, dim sum, mee goreng mamak, asam laksa, bubur lambuk, lok-lok and nasi briyani.
Just when we thought we had enough, Zulkifli introduced the dessert counter, which had every kind of treat for durian lovers. One can start off with the durian cake and move on to the serawan durian, durian panna cota, durian mousse and end the evening with pulut durian or even eat the fruit itself.
The buffet is priced at RM135 nett per adult and RM77 nett per child.
