SAVOUR the tantalising tastes of European dishes specially whipped up by Swiss-born chef de cuisine Reto Weber at the Mandarin Grill.
By using some of the best ingredients, chef Weber has infused interesting flavours that are sure to win the hearts of diners.
The menu, which was introduced early this year includes Grilled Monk fish cooked in Beef Chorizo Sauce, served with glazed green peas and golden raisins, Marbled by Hudson Valley Foie Gras with Crispy Duck Breast and Cauliflower Puree, Dorade Rose ‘crocant’ served with Broccoli Puree, Beetroot and Pommery Mustard and Salmon Degustation featuring Scottish Smoked Caviar, Ravioli and Poached King Salmon Loin, just to name a few.
The thin slice of the Black Angus Beef carpaccio is an amazing appetiser as you take in the thinly sliced layers of the meat while the Pan Seared River Prawns exudes a sourish flavour and is interestingly matched with sweet corn.
For a taste of soups, there’s White Roma Tomato Emulsion with Provencal Tortellini or Seafood Chowder with scallops, prawns and melted leek tian to savour.
Diners can also whet their appetite over dishes like Tortellini Pasta, Seven Vegetable Risotti and Halibut ‘saltimbocca’ served with Smoked Duck, Braised Lentils and Saffron Jus, Atlantic Cod served with Spicy Sweet Corn, Spinach and Dill Beurre Blanc and Boston Lobster served with Summer Vegetable Gratin.
Those with a huge appetite can sink their teeth into hearty main courses such as Organic Lamb Two Ways, served with Tortellini, Celeriac Puree and Balinese Pepper Sauce and Pure Angus Beef Short Ribs with Morel Mushroom, Kohlrabi and Potato Puree.
Lamb lovers will surely want to try the Organic Lamb Two Ways as it is easy to slice into and melts in the mouth, leaving a moist and juicy feeling.
A meal is not complete without a sweet ending and for dessert, there’s the lovely Chocolate Sphere served with Yogurt Sorbet, Almond Crumble and Passion Fruit; Granny Smith Apple Tart; Swiss Chocolate Fondue served with a variety of fruits and marshmallows; Cointreau souffle and homemade ice cream and sorbet.
The sinful and delicious Dark Chocolate Sphere, paired with passion fruit and frozen yogurt strikes just the right balance.
It appears that all the dishes were sized appropriately without them, being too heavy or too light, allowing the diner to appreciate each course.
As chef Weber was not available at our tasting session, executive sous chef Reiner Lupfer stepped in to explain that the restaurant’s signature dishes had been included on the menu.
He said high-end dishes presented in the menu gave diners, a different option when they dined at the restaurant.
“Every detail has been looked into and the dishes are completely European. People crave for the authentic taste of European cuisine and we offer a complete selection for everyone to enjoy.
“The menus were planned in such a way to ensure we provide quality and quantity.
“We age our meat ourselves to ensure they are tender,” he said.
The starter and soup are priced from RM32++ to RM180++, while the main course are between MR68++ and RM285++ per dish. Desserts are priced from RM18++ to MR56++ per order.
