AFTER a tiring day at work, dining at The Village in Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside is a much welcome respite.
The attap roof and the al fresco dining area built on stilts over the Putrajaya Lake exuded a relaxing vacation-like ambience.
We sat facing the lake and watched the sun slowly disappearing while executive chef Brandon Ng briefed us on the restaurant’s specialities.
“We serve tapas as well as Asian and Mediterranean delights,” he said.
A plate of inviting tapas soon arrived at our table to kick-start the evening’s gastronomic experience.
Out of the six choices, the Deep Fried Goat Cheese accompanied by Lemon Honey was a must-try for its interesting flavours.
The Grilled Lamb Cutlets and Button Mushroom cooked with Garlic and Olive Oil also emerged as personal favourites.
The other items recommended by Ng were Tartar of Smoked Salmon, Smoked Piquillo Peppers with Cream Cheese and Anchovies on Toasted Panini.
Green Pea Soup was served next.
“We blend blanched peas, and then flavour them with pesto oil and basil. Their fragrance enhances the taste of the green peas,” said Ng.
Ng also insisted that we give Tiramisu and Berries Sabayon a try. Both were equally enjoyable.
Every month, The Village draws diners to the restaurant by introducing a promotion set.
From the June promotion — Truly Unique and Irresistible Soft Shell Crabs — we sampled Crab Cake with Salsa, Seafood Crab Bisque, Deep Fried Crumbled Soft Shell Crab with Roasted Pineapple and Lemon Orange Tart.
Moving on, lobsters will take centre stage at The Village this month.
A promotion dubbed Oceanic Treasure – Lobster by The Lake is available at RM125++ per set, comprising an appetiser, main course and dessert.
The menu features tantalising items, namely Mixed Mesclun with Yuzu dressing, Baked Lobster Thermidor with Seasonal Grilled Vegetables and Ginger Creme Brulee.
Meanwhile, on Fridays and Saturdays, a barbecue bonanza will take over The Village.
At RM89++ per person, a generous spread of soups, pizzas, pasta, grilled seafood and desserts beckon.
