TRAFFIC around the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort has doubled since the fasting month began early this month and most residents in the area know the answer to it.

After eight years of successfully hosting buka puasa buffets at the club, the dining experience has left the neighbourhood wanting for more each year.

Its senior general manager Herman Tan said traffic could reach a complete standstill at times especially for those who do not come in to dine early.

“There are days where we do not have enough parking bays for everyone and they would have to park at the side of the road leading to the club. We are lucky the members and the residents here understand the scenario each year,” he said.

The club’s dining area may look small but Tan said it is able to cater up to a maximum of 3,000 guests in one night.

“People come here for our wide variety and the price which is affordable for all,” Tan said.

This year, the club brings a nostalgic atmosphere to guests breaking fast as the Hari Raya celebration coincides with National Day.

“We selected the theme of ‘Nostalgia Ramadan at Tropicana’ as this year both celebrations are close to one another,” he said adding that the food, drinks, desserts and music selection had also been tweaked to fit into the theme.

Desserts like pineapple tarts, lepat pisang, pengat labu, kuih koci, ice-cream potong, tepung pelita and tepung bungkus can be found alongside a host of stalls offering the usual favourites like Soup Gear Box, Roti Jala Pandan, Lamb Beriani, Stir Fried Vegetables, Bubur Lambuk, Fish Head Curry, ketupat, lemang, rendang, asam pedas and kuey teow fried in three styles; Cantonese, Prawn and Penang.

There is also a section of grilled dishes where guests can find fish, prawn, squid, chicken, beef, lamb, satay and chicken tandoori with naan bread.

Children who do not fancy spicy food can visit the kid’s corner where there are chicken nuggets, fish fingers, squid balls, samosa, spaghetti, pizza and cream of mushroom soup.

The buka puasa buffet is priced at RM75++ (adults) and RM40++ (children) while members of the club can enjoy a special price at RM65++ (adults) and RM35++ (children).

The club also provides open house catering services during Hari Raya Aidilfitri with six menu packages starting with RM50nett for a minimum of 50 guests.
