SAY hello to Mr Asahi, the world’s first robotic bartender. Presented by Asahi Super Dry, this mechanical barman cheerfully pulls 300ml pints of Asahi beer in less than two minutes (which would save you about 13 minutes of waiting at the bar) and can even open bottles!

Mr Asahi will be touring Malaysia to meet fans in celebration of the increased availability of Asahi Super Dry, which is now brewed exclusively by Carlsberg Malaysia in Shah Alam, Selangor.

The nationwide tour will take Mr Asahi and his entourage (comprising dancers, a DJ and a customised truck that unfolds into a mini party-space wherever he is) to key market squares and commercial centres in Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Johor Baru, Ipoh and Penang until mid-May. Glenmorangie’s pop-up bar

Whether you are a single malt aficionado, a fan of contemporary design, or just a curious onlooker, the Glenmorangie Soundform Fluid bar will definitely catch your eye (and ear). Designer Philip Michael Wolfson was commissioned by Glenmorangie to create a bar they could use at events around the globe, one that reflects their motto: Unnecessarily Well-Made.

With that in mind, Wolfson decided to record the sound of Glenmorangie whisky being poured into a glass with an oscilloscope. He then used the resulting graph of sound waves as the blueprint for his design, which turned out to be a bar with a structural central mirror finish that is an exact “echo” of the shape of the sound wave. The bar is currently part of a showcase on until May 1 at the North Atrium concourse area (outside Robinsons) in The Gardens, Mid Valley City.

Best in the world

The next time you walk into a bar to order a pint of Guinness, you can be sure that you’ll be getting the best black brew outside of Ireland. Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) once again has been recognised as the winner of the coveted Guinness League of Excellence Award (GLoE) for the best quality Guinness brewed outside Ireland. This is the fifth consecutive time they have won this award for excellence in Guinness brewing standards, production and practices. Euro fever

Counting down to one of the biggest football events in the world, Carlsberg recently held a special two-day viewing of the UEFA Euro 2012 trophy at the Orange Concourse, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre, Selangor. It was the first time the coveted sterling silver trophy was displayed in Malaysia.
