THOSE who enjoy Chinese food and live nearby Seri Kembangan need not travel far as there are many appetising dishes on the menu at Kim Ma Restaurant.

The restaurant in Palace of the Golden Horses has been using a blend of spices, sauces and cooking techniques to present a delectable array of dishes.

Not only has Kim Ma taken on a fresh new look after a recent refurbishment, the menu too exudes innovative ideas.

Its Chinese cuisine chef Chris Lim Chee Hong attributes their mash-up of delights to a desire to enable customers to reconnect with their familial roots and also experience traditional cuisine with a fusion element.

The inspiration for Lim is dishing up something out of the box than only following traditional methods of cooking and using common ingredients from the Chinese kitchen.

“My dishes are usually traditional Chinese cuisines but with a contemporary twist,” said Lim.

The restaurant launched its new a la carte menu this month which has a wide variety of dishes, including a page just for vegetarians.

The Pan-fried Australian Lamb Rack in Mongolian Sauce dressed with Honey Mint Salad, one of Lim’s signature dishes, shows the chef’s ability to use spices and herbs to create mouthwatering treats.

“Usually, when we talk about lamb, people think about black pepper as an ingredient to flavour the meat.

I like to change the concept of a dish and instead of the traditional method of cooking, I mixed honey with mint for the marinade to tantalise diners’ taste buds when eating this dish,” he said.

Other signature dishes on the menu include Deep-fried Prawns wrapped in Smoked Salmon with Wasabi Mango Sauce, which is a fusion of Japanese and Vietnamese flavours, and the Double-boiled Osmanthus Flower with Snow Pear and Aloe Vera, a light, aromatic and very nutritious soup.

Even the Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Organic Charcoal and Fish Maw and Garlicky Scallop with Thin Egg Noodle topped with Crispy Garden Greens (top pic) are sumptuous finds on the menu.
