Spearheading the team that will cook up this Northern Indian feast is Indian Kitchen sous chef Sabuddin Sekh and his younger brother Halimuddin Sekh, who are both from Kolkata.
“To ensure that we give our diners the best that Kolkata has to offer, we have specially imported two types of spices all the way from Kolkata to make our dishes as authentic as possible,” said Sabuddin.
Sabuddin, who claims that all his brothers are also esteemed chefs themselves, will be taking some favourite recipes straight out of Kolkata.
“Our diners must try the Bhuna Gosht, as this spicy mutton dish is very popular back in Kolkata,” said Sabuddin.
The Bhuna Gosht, like many of the mutton dishes in this buffet spread, deserves praise for the tenderness of the meat and the diverse combination of spices.
According to Sabuddin, their chefs pay careful attention to creating these dishes as the cooking process for most of the dishes can be quite tedious.
Diners should also look out for the various tandoori dishes. While the iconic reddish Murgh Malai Tandoori Chicken is available, Taman Sari Brasserie also offers many other kinds of tandoori-cooked meat, some which are actually less colourful in appearance.
One of my own personal recommendations would be the Muchli Ajwaini Tikka fish,
which is also cooked tandoori-style with various spices.
The varieties of briyani dishes can be considered the staple item to this delectable buffet spread, among which the Gosht (lamb) Briyani should not be missed.
No Indian feast would be complete without its plethora of pickles, raita and chutney, and Taman Sari Brasserie offers up to 20 condiments for diners to choose from.
Diners will literally have a sweet ending to their meal with some of the sweetest Indian desserts such as jalebi, kesari and rasgulla.
The uninitiated are advised to proceed with caution as certain Indian desserts are notorious for being very sweet.
The Kolkata buffet promotion at Taman Sari Brasserie is available for both lunch and dinner between Nov 1 and Nov 30.
Priced at RM72++, the lunch buffet is available between noon and 2.30pm daily while diners may enjoy the dinner buffet at RM82++ between 6.30pm and 10.30pm daily.
