HOTEL Istana Kuala Lumpur is offering guests a taste of Malaysia this Ramadan with their ?Breaking of Fast? promotion.

The buffet, at the hotel?s Taman Sari Brasserie restaurant, features food from various states in the peninsula, and offers over 500 dishes made by experienced local chefs.

Their menu includes dishes such as pasembur, briyani Johor and Hariyal Fish Tikka, while the asam pedas and Ikan Patin Gulai Tempoyak Pahang remain the highlights of the buffet.

The Chinese live action stall, one of 28 available at the restaurant, showcases live cooking such as Crab Kam Heong, Black Pepper Squid and char kuey teow, among others.

Stalls offering rojak mamak pasembor, Indian specialties, yong tau foo/steamboat, apam balik, waffle, pulut panggang and hot claypot rice are also in the line-up.

Lemang, made from glutinous rice, is also available and is best eaten with rendang.

Guests can choose from a combination of rendang made with either chicken, beef or lamb.

A taste of Hadramawt awaits guests as Mandy Rice will be making an appearance at the buffet table this year.

Served with chicken and lamb that is cooked in various spices, this Yemen specialty is rich in flavours.

Other spreads available this Ramadan include a ?Sea Treasures? counter, with poached crab, tiger prawns, mussels and baby squid available to entice seafood fans.

A stall showcasing local flavours is offering Chicken Kung Pao, Chinese Stir-fried Beef and Ginger, Lamb Kuzi and Yam in Sour Broth with Dry Shrimp to give diners varying tastes of Malaysia?s cuisine.

Local and international salad counters, comprising Kerabu Kacang Botol Udang Kering, Kerabu Mangga Muda Ikan Bilis, alfalfa sprouts, sun-dried tomatoes, mint yoghurt and pesto dressing, to name a few, offer a variety of mixed greens that can accompany main dishes.

Dessert lovers can explore local and Western delectables from their selection of local kuih, including bingka jagung, kek lapis pelangi, onde-onde, as well as an assortment of cakes and chocolates such as chocolate brownies, tiramisu, Mango Mousse Cake, Chocolate Opera Cake and more.

The buffet is priced at RM88++ per person on the fourth week of Ramadan, and RM120++ per person in the third week. The promotion ends on Aug 8.
