THE Chinese New Year must be one of life’s most pleasurable times but during this occasion, the culinary tradition is seriously devoted to special kinds of food.
One World Hotel at Petaling Jaya is offering an exclusive three sets of eight-course Chinese menu from Jan 23 to Feb 12 at Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant.
Some of these delightful creations include shark’s fin soup, steamed grouper, stewed assorted mushroom, tiger prawns, steamed fragrance rice and a dessert of deep fried nian goa.
Yee Sang, of course, will be the traditional starter served with customer’s choice of seaweed, fresh fruits, polo clam, sweet turnips, sliced abalone and snow pear.
Rich truffle oil is drizzled on the Yee Sang to infuse and further enhance the flavours of the dish while making it more aromatic and lip-smacking.
Chef Loh Jiunn Voon and Chef Koay Chee Ming, combining two decades of experience between them, are the maestri of One World Hotel’s Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant and it shows in their presentations.
Among the line of mouthwatering dishes served, on the offering is the Stewed Assorted Rice, with preserved meat and chicken sausage in abalone sauce wrapped in lotus leaf.
The Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with selective choices of seafood is prepared in three different ways with different ingredients depending on the set chosen by customers.
Another feat of gastronomic delight was the Steamed Red Spotted Grouper with customer’s choice of wood fungus with red dates, Medan sauce or shredded chicken with Sze Chuan vegetables.
What would a Chinese New Year menu be without succulent tiger prawns?
The chefs will be serving the prawns in three different ways depending on the set chosen by customers, set A, B or C.
The tiger prawns are prepared either with butter and papaya, spice and sweet sauce or with coconut milk infused with Thai chilli sauce.
Diners will also find delight in the succulent dessert of deep-fried Nian Gao with pumpkin in salted egg-yolk.
The Prosperity Chinese New Year menu of Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant is available for lunch and dinner.
Pricing at RM988++ (Set A), RM1188++ (Set B) and RM1388++(Set C) serving eight to ten people per table.
