THE brainchild of Jennifer Yap, de’Amour Cafe was conceptualised from her passion for Western cuisine.

With a natural flair for cooking, what started out as a hobby led Yap to open her very own restaurant in a busy commercial hub at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

?I love cooking and baking, so everything came naturally for me. I learnt quite a lot from cookbooks and cooking shows on television, said the 23-year-old former Miss Pahang Tourism 2011 and Miss Malaysia Tourism (Metropolitan) 2011, who is also the restaurant?s chef.

With a modern English vintage interior, diners can expect a wide range of tasty yet delectable treats at de’Amour, as Yap uses only fresh and fine quality ingredients to prepare every dish on the menu.

Yap with the Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna.

From soups and appetisers to main course, one can find a complete selection of items on the restaurant?s menu, as not only is it complemented by a fine range of aromatic Italian coffee and fragrant flower teas, but it also has a variety of pizza, snacks and desserts, among others that are perfect for sharing with friends and families.

Yap’s very own Creamy Pumpkin Soup, which is not so sweet and flavourful, and was served with crunchy garlic bread on the side.

This is a perfect start to a meal.

Just as I finished the soup, the waiter brought in the Smoked Duck Breast Salad. I am not a fan of duck meat, but this was an exception. The mixed salad with Italian dressing was simply amazing when eaten with the thinly sliced tender duck breast meat. I must say this is one of the tastiest salad dishes I have ever eaten.

For the main course, Yap prepared Baked Cod Fish with Lemon Butter Sauce.

The oven-baked fish is so fresh and when topped with home-made lemon butter sauce, it gives you a tangy finish, so light yet tasty. This dish is served with green salad and finely chopped crispy potatoes on the side.

Another item not to be missed is the Grilled French Lamb Rack with Crushed Pistachio. Apart from the cod fish, this is also one of the restaurant?s signature dishes.

Yap used New Zealand French lamb, which was perfectly grilled.

What is different about this dish is that the lamb?s outer layer is coated with crushed pistachio, giving an entirely different flavour altogether.

The perfectly grilled French Lamb Rack with Crushed Pistachio is served with crispy salad and potatoes with red wine sauce.

The dish is complemented with crispy salad and potatoes on the side with red wine sauce.

If red wine is not to your liking, diners can choose mushroom or black pepper sauce instead.

After having a wholesome meal, a nice cup of tea is a welcome and I would recommend the French Rose Bud.

Not only is it aromatic, it is said to relieve indigestion, insomnia and fatigue, among others.

De’Amour offers 10 different types of flower teas.

Yap said the flower teas are imported from Taiwan.

Under the pasta section, be sure to try out the Aglio Olio with Tiger Prawn. As I am a fan of pasta, this is truly a tempting dish.

The spaghetti was al dente and with the combination of olive oil, dry chillies, English parsley and fresh tiger prawns, the dish was absolutely tantalising.

For those who love tuna, the Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna, is also one the restaurant’s signature dishes.

This dish is perfectly pan-seared and has black sesame on the outer layer, and is served with green salad and crispy potato.

It is a very attractive and tasty dish, but one has to eat it immediately, as the tuna becomes hard when cold.

Just as I thought it was the end of our food tasting session, Yap brought in two of her finest desserts, Tiramisu and Mango Jelly Mille Crepe.

Never say no to these flavourful desserts, as Yap prepares them on a daily basis.

The Mango Jelly Mille Crepe oozes juicy jelly from the layers of the crepe. Other favourites in the dessert category include pavlovas, macaron and serradura.

de’Amour also serves breakfast and brunch, and is also known to have a good selection of burgers.

The cafe can serve up to 40 persons at one time and is a great place for hosting corporate and social events.

It can accommodate 60 persons for cocktail functions.
