Thai restaurant serves up five special dishes in conjunction with Loy Krathong.

SRI Ayutthaya celebrates Loy Krathong, Thailand’s festival of lights, with five a la carte dishes specially created for the promotion from now until Nov 30.

The festival is celebrated in November in Thailand, where people make baskets decorated with flowers, candles or incense.

The highlight of the Loy Krathong promotion is the Lobster Phad Phet Nea Mapraw-On (live Atlantic lobster with young coconut flesh).

Restaurant media manager Vivien Low said not many Thai restaurants offered live lobsters.

The pomelo salad in Poo Nim Thord Krop Lart Yam Sam O (deep fried soft shell crab with Thai pomelo salad) adds a refreshing taste to the dish.

“We chose lobsters because we wanted to offer something related to the sea or river because during Loy Krathong, people would float baskets down the river,” she said.

The lobster is priced at RM19.90++ per 100g during the promotion period.

Another seafood option is the Poo Nim Thord Krop Lart Yam Sam O (deep-fried soft shell crab with Thai pomelo salad).

Those who can’t take seafood can opt for Kai Yang Phad Prik Thai Dam (roast chicken Thai style with black pepper sauce), which is priced at RM31.90 (small) and RM59.90 (large).

The Phad Prak Chaw Thai Ruam Pla Khay (fried sweet potato leaf with anchovies and Thai sambal) is cooked in the Chinese style and priced from RM18.90 to RM35.90.

All prices are subject to 10% service charge and 6% government tax.

During the review, other guests at the restaurant were so intrigued by the dishes that they came over and took photos as well.

The restaurant can fit between 200 and 230 people and there are four private rooms. Wedding dinners have also been held at the restaurant.

There are three Sri Ayutthaya restaurants and each is uniquely designed with the decor imported from Thailand.
