  • 4½ cups plain flour, sifted
  • 1½ cups water
  • 2¼ tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 tin evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2¼ tbsp baking powder
  • Pinch of bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/2 cup oil

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, sugar, egg, salt, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and water in a large mixing bowl. Mix well to blend then fold in flour.
  2. Combine the mixture well until a dough is formed.
  3. Stir in oil and knead until dough is soft and pliable. Divide dough into equal portions of approximately 100g each, then flatten the balls of dough with a rolling pin into pieces that are 1cm thick.
