CAN you find a decent bowl of ngau lam meen (beef brisket noodles) in Petaling Jaya?
The answer is, definitely, a ‘yes’, as I have heard, time and again, about a legendary ngau lam meen stall in Paramount Garden, Petaling Jaya.
It took me a while to locate it and when I finally found it, the search yielded two surprises.
First, remember Ah Mei’s Lui Char stall in OK coffeeshop, SS2?
Well, this humble makan place has moved to Paramount Garden.
My next surprise find was a Teochew Lou Ngap Fan seller who served one of the best Chee Thau Phei (braised pig’s head) dishes around.
But first, the makan place in question is Millennium 86 coffee shop (GPS N 03 06 489, E 101 37 444).
And the ngau lam meen stall is hidden away from plain sight.
To locate it, you must first find the Western food stall.
It is right at the back of the coffee shop and is managed by a lady.
Beefy goodness: The stall serves up one of the best ngau lam meen in Petaling Jaya.Now, the best thing is this — you can have your beef brisket with either noodles or rice.
A bowl will cost you RM7.50 and for a beef lover like me, this money well spent.
On the Samo-scale, I would easily give this stall an 8 out of 10.
But before you savour this awesome noodle dish, let me warn you that the gravy is spicier than the average beef brisket noodles that you will find in other parts of the Klang Valley.
What I like most is the generous portions of beef and noodles.
The brisket is soft and tender and even if you wear dentures, it won’t slow you down.
As far as I know, the ngau lam meen stall opens daily for breakfast and lunch.
The Millennium 86 coffee shop is also known for its Hokkien-char noodles, but for that, I will make a seperate trip to give you Samo-holics out there a full-report!
