JUST when I thought I had seen it all, I chanced on another cendol stall in Banting, Selangor.
I discovered this when I did a 150km round-trip ride from USJ Subang Jaya to Tanjung Sepat with my wife, Michelle.
We were on our way back from an overnight bicycling tour and discovered the stall with a large signboard that simply says, “Banting Cendol”.
Curious minds want to know and we ended up in the stall after deciding to take a break from cycling in the hot afternoon.
The stall is located in the middle of Banting town and word has it that it is one of the ‘original’ cendol sellers that goes back decades.
While talking to one of the guys serving the icy dessert, I found out that Kamarudin and Ibrahim Cendol are related.
Okay, that said, another observation I made was the fact that these guys are adept at using the traditional wooden ice shaver.
If you compare this with a machine that produces a blend of finely shaved ice, the olden way of making shaved ice is much more interesting.
It is a whole lot coarser, and tasting a cool and good bowl of the iced dessert on a hot day is an experience to remember.
For a single helping, Ibrahim charges RM1.50 a bowl.

There is also another stall on the premises selling rojak.
After already having a bad experience with rojak in Banting, we decided to give it a miss.
Ibrahim Cendol opens for lunch and tea and is closed after 5pm when the night stall owner takes over, selling sup kambing and other mamak specialties.

The stall is located along Jalan Banting and the landmark to look-out for is the KFC restaurant and Jipun Char Koay Teow, which is located in Jalan Beringin not too far from this place.
