SOUS chef Mohd Bahar Abdullah is putting his years of experience in the kitchen to prepare a buka puasa experience at Kembali Kitchen restaurant, Best Western Premier Hotel.
Together with his team, he has prepared four menus that are rotated throughout the fasting month.
The menus feature over 100 popular Malaysian dishes with an emphasis on traditional or kampung-style dishes.
For appetisers, various pickles and kerabu, otak-otak, serunding ayam, serunding daging and salads are good choices to start one’s meal.
As for main course, there are plenty of live action stalls to check out. There are roasted lamb, baked whole red snapper with tom yam paste and a variety of local noodles at the stalls.
“Guests will be spoilt by the scrumptious cuisine we have prepared.
“I highly recommend the Kambing Kicap Berempah, Kari Ketam with Terung and Udang Galah with Sambal Petai,” he said.
The tasty Udang Galah Masak Lemak Cili Padi and the mouth-watering Pucuk Manis Masak Lemak were also highly recommended.
Aside from white rice, diners can opt for Nasi Hujan Panas to go with the delicious main dishes.
Traditional: Malay cakes can be savoured after the meal.
Mohd Bahar, who hails from Batu Pahat, Johor, has also prepared some signature dishes from the southern state such as Nasi Briyani, Mee Bandung Muar and Mee Rebus Johor.
A wide selection of desserts are served — from bubur gandum, pengat pisang bersagu to bubur pulut kacang hitam, western desserts and traditional Malay cakes.
Other than traditional Malay dishes, a selection of halal Chinese and Indian cuisine are served in the buffet to add to the variety.
The Ramadan buffet at Kembali Kitchen is available from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. The buffet is priced at RM98++ per adult.
Local favourite: Satay at Kembali Kitchen is nicely smoked and the gravy is scrumptious.
