ONE makan place in Klang, Selangor, that is worth a follow-up visit is the Chong Kok coffee shop.
I made this part of my motivation for a 32km ride from Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur to the Klang KTM station during the recent World Car-Free Day.
The plan was to depart from the YMCA in Brickfields and use the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway to Jalan Batu Tiga Lama.
With support from a group of folding bicycle riders, we rode towards Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.

What made the event memorable was a late breakfast at a nasi lemak stall located on the left side of the entrance to the coffee shop.
And on weekends, especially Saturdays, this shop is packed to the brim.
After a 32km ride, we had worked up a good appetite to eat there before proceeding to Pulau Ketam off Port Klang.
There is a good selection of dishes to go with the steamed rice infused with coconut milk.
Fuel for the road: This nasi lemak is best known for its good taste and value for money.
My pick was sambal sotong and a hard-boiled egg which cost RM3.70 a plate.
I would rate this an 8 out of 10 on the Samo-scale.
The nasi lemak goes well with a tall, chilled glass of kopi-o peng (iced black coffee) at RM1.60 per serving.
Other noteworthy dishes that go well with your coffee for breakfast are the cucur udang, pisang goreng, tauhu sumbat and curry puff.
Since the shop was packed, one of the cyclists suggested that we improvise by placing stools along the sidewalk and the experience was unforgettable.
Chong Kok coffee shop (N 03 02.561, E 101 26.963) is located off Jalan Stesen. It is open for breakfast and lunch daily and the best way to get there is by taking the KTM Komuter service to Port Klang (get off at Klang station).
