  • 250g glutinous rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 140ml hot water
  • 2 tbsp thick coconut milk
  • 2-3 tbsp castor sugar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Pink, green and yellow edible food colouring
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 piece gula Melaka, finely pounded and mixed with 2-3 tbsp brown sugar
  • Topping (combined):
  • 1/2 grated young coconut
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Sift glutinous rice flour and salt into a mixing bowl. Add in coconut milk, oil and sugar to mix. Pour in hot water and stir with a wooden spoon to mix until a dough is formed.
  2. Divide dough into four equal portions. Add a different colour to each portion and mix leaving only one portion white.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls and fill the centre with a bit of the combined gula Melaka and sugar mixture. Seal up and roll again evenly into nice round balls.

  5. Remove the balls with a slotted spoon. Drain well then toss in grated white coconut.
