Recipe Ingredient

  • 150g plain flour, sifted
  • 1/8 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 50g castor sugar
  • 1 medium-sized egg
  • 25g margarine

Instructions

  1. Put sifted flour, sugar and bicarbonate of soda in a mixing bowl. Add in egg and margarine to combine. Knead into a dough and leave aside to rests for 25-30 minutes.
  2. Roll out the dough into 1mm thickness. Cut into 7x2.5cm strips. Place the two strips together. Make a small cut or slit in the centre and give it a twist from the bottom up.
  3. Do the same for the rest of the dough until all the dough is used up. Deep-fry the ribbon dough in hot oil until golden brown and crispy. Drain and set aside on absorbent paper towels then store in an airtight container.
